...don't you think the secular givers, who have no expectation of payback, are the real altruists?
A good point, which I have made a number of times.
God people should not be confused with good people. They are just one 'o' short good.

this is going to be a short essay on a point i have been thinking about for a while now.. jesus explicitly stated in the gospels not to judge.
i think this a grossly overlooked statement from jesus from the witnesses and a lot of christian denominations.. judging could be defined as figuring out what's right or wrong for another person.
it's a pretty simple concept really, and jesus warned against it.. organized religion by definition creates doctrine and policy, some enforce them more than others (like the witnesses).. to create (or interpret) doctrine and initialize policy is to judge others.
Jesus may or may not have spoken against organized religion. We will never know, because we are assured by Christians on this very board that the Bible is not inerrant.
That being the case, all we have is hearsay of what Jesus is alleged to have said. Even these ancient biblical notes are often contradictory. Only those whom Jesus has personally spoken to can say with certainty what Jesus thinks of organized religion.
Until he speaks to me, I shall remain ignorant. No jokes about my ignorance please - you will offend my gods
i'm wondering if anyone here has had a "near death experience" or know of someone that has.
as an example: such as floating above your body during your operation when the doctors 'lose' you and you make a decision to return back to your body even though the bright light and some voice tell you otherwise... .
did it change you/them in anyway?.
I'm a gladiator - what do you think?
she asked me if i am christian.
i told her that i was raised as a jw, but i do not go to the kingdom hall.
she says that she watch charles stanley and franklin graham on tv.
asilentone Yes, using the word 'chick' can cause offense in reference to women looking for a hot date.
In future you might care to re-think your vocabulary and stick to safe words. Here are a few suggestions to help you on your way.
Babe, doll, eye-candy, floozy, hottie, stunner.
i have wondered lately, why there is soooo much controvery in the 'pronunciation' or spelling of god's name jehovah.
to my knowledge, i haven't heard of any 'question' on jesus christs name, meaning or spelling.
why if he's the almighty god, is there a question to his name meaning and spelling, and not his son's?.
Personaly, I prefer to call on the name of JAHESHUA MISCHAJAH. Much more original.
Peace to you all.
below are thoughts from the posted web site... i am interested in how those who put full faith in the scientific method would answer.. can the existence of god be proved through scientific inquiry?
can playing the board game monopoly prove whether charles darrow or lizzie magie invented the game?
can assembling a puzzle of the mona lisa prove the existence of leonardo da vinci?
We cab choose to believe or not but only 'God' can prove his own existence to humans. So the amount of debate about whether he exists, proves that either:
He does not have the ability to prove his existence.
He does not exist outside of believers minds.
He has decided that humans are not worth proving his existence to.
He prefers to keep us guessing because he's shy.
There are other possibilities but in his continued absence we can only surmise.

In the past I have felt anger towards 'God.' But as the original quote points out, it's not possible to be angry with a god that doesn't exist. So once I realized the god of the Israelites and the god of the Muslims was invented by man, my anger vanished.
To clarify, I don't believe in the god of the bible, his superhuman son, or even Superman himself. This does not mean I have ruled out the possibility that the universe is aware of its own existence and evolves intelligently. Whether that amounts to 'God,' is for all you 'God squad' experts on the forum to access.

caveat, many atheists, like LeavingWT are not like this at all.
He doesn't appear to be but behind the polite persona there is a passive aggressiveness below the surface.
this has been going around in my head recently, after reading a post by aguest i believe, what are they?.
i mean this seriously.. those of you who are athiests, you are free to answer, but i do believe in god and in jesus, so one really should answer with the assumption that they are real, even if you don't believe that, please humor me and offer a logical thought based on that assumption.. 2 timothy 3:16,17 - probably every witness can quote that by heart and would probably assume it meant the bible ... but does it?.
the bible didn't exist at the time paul wrote his letters.
Scriptures are any non evidential text that people in authority choose to take seriously and decree to be Holy.
People in high places even get to add a capital 'H' to Holy just to give it The Divine Seal of Approval.
Don't ya just love magic - and all that jazz.
